In this\nlimited context at work places, it is about all sorts of low-level adversarial\npower play amongst different skin colours, which outcome:- to take or join the given\nwinning side of non-black skin.&nbsp; Under\nthis aegis are SMOKE SCREENS, to quote: (i<em>)\n\u2018a <\/em><em>mass of dense artificial smoke\nused to conceal military areas or operations from an enemy\u2019 (ii) \u2018An action or statement\nused to conceal actual plans or intentions.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The above describes the work\nplace \u2018operations\/staff manual\u2019 and the four smokescreen scenarios below \u2013 all\nwell-concealed with attendant threats and chilling consequences if one falls\nout-of-line.&nbsp; The construction is\npremised on adversarial relationship that cascades from top-down &#8211; no prizes\nfor guessing who is usually at the bottom.&nbsp;\nThe judgement on when the shots are fired across the bow is skewed by \u2018what\ncolour\u2019 is on the offending \u2018ship\u2019 \u2013 who is down\/bottom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>When hostilities are at their\nzenith \u2018<em>shots are fired across the bow\u2019<\/em>\n&nbsp;<em>\u2018&#8230;this\nexpression <\/em><em>derives from the naval practice of firing a cannon shot across\nthe bows of an opponent&#8217;s ship to show them that you are prepared to do battle\u2019\n<\/em>\u2013 ala Gen Hitler\/Emperor\nNapoleon posture.<\/li><li>When potential powers are waning\n\u2018<em>alliances are formed to shore up\u2019&nbsp; <\/em>ala North Atlantic Treaty Organisation [NATO]\nspectre is displayed.<\/li><li>When the battle is lost a \u2018<em>surrender flag is hoisted<\/em> &nbsp;&#8211; ala The battle of Waterloo spirit\u2019<\/li><li>When it dawns that all will lose\nthe contest of wills, a \u2018win-win\u2019 dice is placed on the table \u2013 ala mini-United\nNations.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>In work places, these smokescreens hide the tug-of-war RACISM \/ RACE-ISM contests, which consequences are to humiliate, embarrass, and trash, \u2018<em>by any means necessary<\/em>\u2019, those at the bottom of the employment ladder.\u00a0 In this power-play all employers are oblivious of the common danger lurking underneath i.e. poor productivity, inefficiency, shoddy products, job loses, lack of creativity, environmental degradation from wastefulness, poor this; poor that; worse this; worse that; etc., etc., pose to both the winners and losers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"269\" height=\"203\" src=\"http:\/\/equalitiessensitivityrating.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/image-11.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-347\"\/><figcaption>Richard Rorty<br>&#8216;Contingency, irony, solidarity&#8217;<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>ESRL asserts that The Equalities Act 2010 is in place to remind employers of the need to address RACISM \/ RACE-ism \u2013 a subtle platform of adversarial relationship in work place and negative consequences for employers.\u00a0 This Act is <em>\u2018a consequence of experiences of social disintegration&#8230;..\u2019 <\/em>from wars, conflicts, fights, push-backs, etc.\u00a0 It encourages employers that \u2018<em>doubts about human characters and cultures can be solved or assuaged only by enlarging acquaintances&#8230;.\u2019\u00a0 <\/em>(Rorty 1989).\u00a0 It beseeches employers to encourage the oppressed to express their voice, along the adage \u2018<em>the wearer of the shoe knows where it pinches\u2019<\/em>, well aware that shoe-designers wield the power and capacity to make amends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The appended reading provoked all\nsorts of adversarial adjectives err ammunitions mastered and sharpened by the English\nlanguage, loaded and fired into those experiencing racism\/race-ism.&nbsp; Below are sampled highlights:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cEquality Impact Assessment&#8230;\u201d <\/em>\u2013 a soft way of saying the bodily blow on the effected by racists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cFor several years, with your support, we have stood with\nthose who have suffered unnecessarily as a result of recent anti-discrimination\nlegislation and sought to expose the incoherency, instability and unfairness of\nthe \u2018equalities\u2019 framework&#8230;.\u201d<\/em><em>. <\/em>\u2013 A soft way of saying we have\nbeen brutalised, pulverised, and lost the will to live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe know that race hate crime is the highest recorded form of\nhate crime&#8230;..\u201d.&nbsp; <\/em>A soft way of saying there are bodies out there because of\nracist assaults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jack\nAlecho-oita, a director at <a href=\"http:\/\/equalitiessensitivityrating.com\/\">Equalities Sensitivity Rating<\/a> Ltd\ncomments as follows: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe\nnature of tall structures in employment is associated with what one Geert Hofstede\ncalled \u2018Power Distance\u2019 &#8211; an enjoyable authoritarian\nhierarchy in which subordinates, in this context, workers unquestionably submit to authority.&nbsp; Up the ladder, \u2018cruelty is not challenged&#8230;.\u2019;\n\u2018kindness is not dispensed&#8230;.\u2019; and \u2018it\u2019s my way or the highway&#8230;.\u2019.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWell below or at the lowest rung of the ladder as always are\nblack people who have to brave all sorts of fallouts from the top hitting them\non the head;
