The question is a paraphrase of Hippokrates\nof Kos (<\/strong>460 \u2013 c. 370 BC) 2500 year-old clarion call that \u2018desperate situation requires desperate measures\u2019.  <\/em>The set of words and phrase\nindiscriminately capture or can be used to capture negative human experiences\nwith equalities in employment.  Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this issue of \u2018Equalities\u2019,\nemployers wield vast economic and social powers and therefore the capacity to\nIGNORE any political persuasion to attend to discriminations practices in\nemployment.  This tendency, may be, is\ninformed by employers\u2019 hierarchy of needs or priorities remaining different\nfrom that of employees, despite this immortalised \u2018clarion call\u2019 by Hippokrates of Kos<\/strong> breathing down the\nneck of employers for 2500 years.  Equalities\u2019\nfor an employer, \u2018is more or less an inconvenience to live with; and for an\nemployee, have to be attended to as its central to optimal performing for the respective\nemployer.  \u2018Equalities\u2019 as an issue is caught\nin the middle hence the ESRL invoking of Hippokrates of Kos \u2018clarion call\u2019 for\nan-in-depth look observed below of select statements gleaned from On-line\ncomments:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Positives:<\/strong>\n\u2018Equalities\u2019 is comforted  by\nwords\/phrases such as \u2018…more must be done..\u2019; \n\u2018  will prepare the necessary\nchanges;  \u2018…we recognise there is a\nproblem…\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Negatives:<\/strong>\n\u2018Equalities\u2019 is held down by words\/phrases such as \u2018…changes will impose\nextra costs…\u2019; \u2018…harsher measures with have negative impact…\u2019, such as, \u2018…quality\nof work will suffer and customers\u2019 will not be happy…\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\nthe middle:<\/strong> are words\/phrases such as \u2018…better to\ntackle these issues together..\u2019;   \u2018…we\nknow what a dodgy deal  looks\nlike…\u2019;  \u2018…glass ceiling for women in\nemployment has been smashed !!!….\u2019;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Somewhere\nare the following encouraging observation<\/strong>: \u2018…Written guide\nto employers\u2019 to avoid breaching\/breaking the Equalities Act 2010…; \u2018…Government\nprocurement will be more imaginatively used in favour of the more \u2018Equalities\u2019\nsensitive employers….\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alecho-oita, a director at Equalities Sensitivity Rating<\/a><\/strong>\ncommented as follows;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through an experiment, we can compare how the Equalities\nAct 2010 \u2018protected characteristics fares. \nI suspect that two groups will emerge.  One, namely \u2013 Age, Disability, Pregnancy and\nMaternity; Marriage and Partnership; Religion; Sex; Gender reassignment; Sex;\nSexuality.  The possibility of artistic experiment\nto experience and produce a realistic feel of those challenged by these\ncharacteristics is unlimited.  Race, as\nthe other, however stands out alone, as the feel and experiences of RACISM\ncannot be reproduced through artistic experiment nor is it transferable and;\nany statistical inference from such findings does not and cannot remove the arising\nemotional injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
